Goodbye Mo

End of Movember 2012

The arrival of the 30th of November also means the end of Movember for 2012. Time to have a decent shave! Having already grown a full blown, bushy, ‘let’s see how much hair I can get on my upper lip’ moustache for Movember 2011, I was keen to cultivate something a little more shapely this time around for Movember 2012. The mid-November progress looked good but the end of month Mo still turned out to be somewhat short of perfect as you can see below.

It is always a good feeling to finally get rid of the Mo although thirty days is long enough to become used to having it in place. The first few times of seeing myself in the mirror without it is always a surprise but it is great to regain a certain youthfulness that comes with a smooth upper lip.

Growing a Movember moustache in France has required a little more explaining than in the UK. Movember is not yet a well known phenomenon here. There have been people that I have met before I have grown the moustache. They have been surprised at the addition of the lip hair. Then there are others I have met with the moustache already in place, who will surely be surprised to find me clean shaven the next time we meet.

Of course, Movember is all about raising awareness of men’s health issues as well as money for fighting men specific cancers so I’m happy to explain it to those who are as yet unfamiliar with the movement. If you’d like to know more, please visit the Movember site.

Many thanks to Coralie Santos for taking the photographs included in this post.

Did you Movember this year? Let me know how it turned out below.

Goodbye Mo…..until next year.

  1. Great photos, Coralie. Nice to see my son looking youthful again. Next year you will have to challenge some men to join in Movember with you. Mum xx

    1. Haha, thanks Mum. I’m not sure how long it’s going to take France to get involved with Movember. To be fair, there are quite a few locals who sport a ‘tache all year long already!
