After a couple of weeks of rain at the beginning of September, the sun recently re-appeared. September is one of my favourite times to be in the Dordogne. Fewer tourists and mild temperatures are the perfect combination for enjoying the region’s many charms.

The tourist rush has been and gone and the ‘arrière saison’ is now upon us. This is my favourite time of the year in the Dordogne as the pace of life slows back down, the calm makes it easier to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the sun is still hot enough for another month of outdoor living.
